Truancy : Nothing Is What It Seems

Why does School Exist?

An important question in today's world -
How is school relevant?

and schooling, learning must be relevant in today's
information world

especially for our switched on teenagers'
who look around
and wonder

what on earth they are going to do...

School got to be relevant
we get told today that 30,000 students
truant every day!

OMG
and now the response is to fine$$$ parents

what a great way to make money

and
create
new jobs

eeeeek,   streeeech,   put on brakes!!!

cos responding to truancy
like its the parents' fault
is like
blaming the fisherman
who loses the bait

98% of parents want the best for their children's
education
and Every parent i know want their
children to attend school
and get enough knowledge and skills
 to earn a living
when they get older...

come on law makers
Fining parents wont make
enough money or jobs in the long
run; a punitive response'
to a place where the child doesnt want to attend
because of ............................. ??

I know a teenager who wont go to school
cause he gets negative comments
thrown at him by his peers

The School Yard can be a hostile place

Some Teens dont want to know the thoughts of their peers
Some Teens dont want to hear that Gay is All Bad
Some Teens dont want to know about algebra
Some Teen Boys dont want to play rugby

School
might be a place where

if you dont keep up
you are left behind
and you are taught to be
silent about

30,000 children a day skipping school?
A tad overstated i think
and if not?
then how are schools making
schools a great place to attend?
